Spring Clean Health

Spring has officially sprung, which means it’s time to clean out the old and refresh with the new! Your home isn’t the only thing you should spring clean this season, either. Now is the perfect time to cleanse your body and jumpstart your health as well. We know that making lifestyle and diet changes can feel intimidating at first, so we’re here to help make the process a bit easier. There are a few simple yet ultra-effective ways to clear out your system and improve your health over time.

Not sure where to start? Below, Dr. Bharat Sangani, experienced cardiologist and life coach, is sharing his top five useful tips to stay healthy this spring.

Always Go With H2O

Quenching your thirst with processed soda, sugary juice, or unhealthy energy drinks will only satisfy you in the short-term. Instead, always reach for a glass of water. Drinking an adequate amount of water each day has proven benefits, such as maintaining high energy levels, aiding weight loss, and enhancing overall physical performance. Plus, it hydrates and cleanses the body of toxins, which makes it the ultimate physiological spring cleaning tool. It’s recommended that individuals drink about 64 ounces each day, so get yourself a refillable water bottle and start sipping!

Eat Your Fruits and Veggies

We all know that fruits and vegetables are good for us, but actually putting them on your plate is sometimes easier said than done. However, skipping the drive-thru line and cooking up some roasted veggies for dinner every night will do wonders for your health. Fruits and veggies contain essential nutrients, such as vitamins and antioxidants, that can help you fight disease and some cancers, promote healthy skin, and boost your immune system. With a few good recipes, you’ll learn to love fruits and vegetables just as much (if not more) than other scratchy and heavily processed foods.

Mental Health Matters

A spring clean of your health is certainly not limited to your physical body. Taking care of your mental health and setting aside time to rejuvenate your mind is essential for overall health, happiness, and wellbeing. So, yes, “Self-Care Sunday” should become a regular part of your weekly routine! One way to support your mental health is by signing up for Dr. Sangani’s “Life Is a Business” mentorship program. He’ll teach you how to achieve long-lasting health and happiness through his three key pillars of health, wealth, and wisdom.

Get Moving Daily

Exercise, of course, is an essential component of maintaining health overtime. It’s more than just about looking good on the outside too. Getting regular exercise, at least 150 minutes per week, will promote better sleep, a healthy heart, and improved overall health. Since the weather is heating up for spring, you can make a fun activity out of your workouts by heading outside for a hike, bike ride, or a swim in the neighborhood pool.

Relax and Reset

Overworking yourself to the point of burnout can cause physical distress and symptoms, such as headaches, intestinal issues, and lack of energy. This prevents you from being able to properly maintain your health and wellbeing. When you’re feeling a bit rundown, make sure to take a day off, find a way to destress, and refresh your mind and body before getting back into your daily grind. Some mindful activities include meditation, spending time in nature, listening to calming music, or reading a new book. Find what works for you and remember it’s okay to put yourself first sometimes!
